Thai Airways targets 80% rise in passengers after planes improved

BANGKOK, 30 May 2011 -Thai Airways will invest in a major overhaul to improve a fleet of 12 Boeing 747-400 planes. The first batch is expected to be completed on 27 May 2011 while the other half will be done within next year. 

According to Dr. Piyasawat Amaranand, President of Thai Airways International PCL, there will be altogether 20 airplanes with a budget of 5-6 billion THB. He added that this was more cost effective than purchasing A 330-300 which would cost 3 billion THB per piece. He also expressed his confidence that this would increase the number of passengers of the airline by 80%
