BANGKOK, 24 August 2014  – Thailand and Myanmar are set to jointly construct another Friendship Bridge to bring the citizens of the two neighbors even closer.

Chief engineers from the governments of Thailand and Myanmar have completed their final meeting to discuss the details of the planned construction of the second Thailand-Myanmar friendship bridge.

The neighbors have agreed to undertake the project as soon as possible, with the Myanmar government assuring their Thai counterparts of its readiness in every aspect, including the expropriation of the land required.

For Thailand’s part, Mr. Kasem Woranun from the Department of Highways said that the survey and the design of the bridge have been completed and the government has only to allocate the budget, and proceed with the expropriation of the land and the construction plan.
