A survey has revealed that the price of pork in Ladprao district, Bangkok, is higher than that set by the Department of Internal Trade, selling at 135-140 baht per kilogram; however, the price is acceptable by consumers given the pork is specially cut and of high quality.///

According to the Department of Internal Trade, pork price for September 13th-18th,2013 has been set at 124 baht per kilogram, with an additional 10 baht per kilogram is it is specially trimmed. However, sellers in Ladprao district have reportedly been selling it between 135-140 baht per kilogram, and up to 150 baht for pork fillets or other parts; much higher than the limit set by the Department.

Sellers stated that the pork they sell meet consumers’ demand in terms of cuts and preferences, and that it is difficult to comply with the price set by the Department because buyers prefer specially cut pork of premium quality and do not mind paying more for what they want.
