PM aims to boost investor confidence for Thailand at WEF on East Asia 2012

BANGKOK, 31 May 2012 – The Prime Minister is determined to reassure foreign investors of Thailand’s integrity and regain their confidence at the 21st World Economic Forum (WEF) on East Asia in Bangkok.

At an overture event held by U.S. news channel CNBC prior to the WEF on East Asia 2012, Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra gave a speech to express her views on the topic of “Asia’s New Reality: Growth vs. Inflation” with the objective of building confidence and attracting more investment to Thailand.

In her speech, the PM underlined Thailand’s ability and strength in overcoming challenges, such as natural disasters. Moreover, she stressed the necessity to connect with other nations in the region in order to eliminate the problem of inequality.

Meanwhile, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance Kittiratt Na Ranong added that a country’s growth must be balanced and income must be evenly distributed to all levels of the population, including people at the grassroots level. Additionally, he stated that importance should be given in strengthening mutual cooperation with neighboring countries.
