BANGKOK, 13 November 2013 – Japan has expressed no concerns about the current political conflict in Thailand as it is eyeing for new investment in the future.

The Department of Industrial Promotion has inked a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Japan’s Tottori Prefecture. The signing ceremony was witnessed by Industry Minister Prasert Boonchaisuk.

After the ceremony, Governor of Tottori Prefecture Shinji Hirai said under the agreement, both parties will be in close contact in order to support all economy-related cooperation between both countries’ industrial sectors, especially small and medium sized enterprises.

The two sides will also step up efforts to promote connections between industrial clusters, cooperation in disaster reliefs, and organizing of seminars, exhibitions, and business conferences.

Governor Shinji Hirai also expressed his confidence that the current political protests in Thailand will not affect its business sector, adding that Japan has a plan for more investments in Thailand, especially in the auto industry.
