Chonburi real estate developers showed off more than 30 projects at a Government Housing Bank fair in Pattaya where about 30 billion baht in loans were expected to be sought.

GHB Board Chairman Surachai Danaitungtrakul opened the Jan. 29 housing and loan fair at Central Festival Pattaya Beach that was attended by local politicians, former MPs and executives from local real estate associations.

The bank has hosted similar housing fairs in Khon Kaen, Chiang Mai and Hat Yai and predicted the Pattaya expo would be its largest, with nearly 30 billion baht in loans sought for property investments and development.

Surachai said the promotion began with a 10 million baht budget to offer loans to lower-income people so they could afford their own home. “So far, 2.5 million baht in loans have been written” (at the beginning of the event), he said.
