BANGKOK, 10 November 2013 The Automotive Industry Club of the Federation of Thai Industries (FTI) has predicted that the number of cars produced by the end of 2013 will top 2.55 million units.

Spokesman of the Automotive Industry Club Surapong Paisitpatnapong revealed that Thailand produced 1.93 million cars in the first 9 months of 2013, while expressing his confidence that the number will reach 2.55 million vehicles at year end, thanks to the forthcoming “Moto Expo 2013” event.

However, the spokesman said this year’s car orders during the “Moto Expo 2013” will be less than last year’s figure which stood at 80,000 units, adding that last year’s tremendous growth was mainly stimulated by the government’s first-car-buyer scheme.

He also mentioned some worries about the automobile sector facing labor shortage and higher expenses caused by the 300-baht daily wage policy that took effect nationwide at the beginning of this year.
