BANGKOK, 5 November 2013 The Federation of Thai Industries (FTI) is asking the anti-government demonstrators not to block roads as the move could cripple the country’s logistics industry.

According to FTI Chairman Payungsak Chartsutipol, road closures will incapacitate the country’s transport and definitely result in investors losing confidence as product deliveries could be delayed. In addition, buyers have been worried that the situation might get out of control, judging from the decrease in the Thai industries sentiment index.

He further disclosed that the business sector did not want to get involved in politics, but only wanted to see a corruption-free government.

The chairman is also hopeful that the current situation will neither escalate nor lead to violence, as it will definitely cripple the country’s business sector.
