DIT plans more “Blue Flag Fairs” to relieve rising cost of living

BANGKOK, 15 June 2012 – The Department of Internal Trade has plans to organize 1,022 Blue Flag Fairs across Thailand during May-September to help reduce the cost of living.

Mrs. Watcharee Wimuktayon, Deputy Director-General of the Department of Internal Trade has revealed the progress of Blue Flag Fair organizing, saying a total of 1,022 such fairs will be held across Thailand from May to September, 2012. The plan includes five fairs to be held in Bangkok and its satellite provinces.

One of the events is to be held from June 21 to 25 at Impact Arena Muang Thong Thani. Another one is being held in Samut Prakan from June 13-17 and the rest will be held in Pathum Thani province, Nakhon Pathom province, and at the 11th Infantry Regiment in Bangkok.

At the regional level, the fairs will be implemented 12 times in total, 5 of which have already been done. At the district level, a total of 878 fairs are scheduled, of which 362 have already been achieved. The purpose of the fair is to help Thai people shoulder their financial burdens due to the rise in the cost of living.
