BANGKOK, 19 May 2011 – The Department of Export Promotion (DEP) is planning to open a trading website, www.thaitrade.com, within next month with an aim to augment Thai exports through online media.

DEP Director-General Nantawan Sakuntanak stated that the department had come up with an online central market project featuring the thaitrade.com website, which was expected to be ready for operations within June. She indicated that up to 500 entrepreneurs, notably those in the gift, fashion and furniture businesses, had agreed to participate in the project, which would be further promoted during the upcoming THAIFEX 2011.

Ms Nantawan pointed out that the website would serve as an effective tool in boosting the potential of Thai exporters and showcasing their products and services to prospective customers in every corner of the world. After the website’s official launch, she expected the project to have more than 3,000 participants with over 60,000 products.
