BANGKOK, 11 August 2015 – The Chinese government has agreed to purchase two million tons of rice from Thailand through a government-to-government (G2G) deal.

Commerce Minister General Chatchai Sarikalaya said after visiting China that Thailand will deliver two million tons of rice over two years. The first million tons, which include Jasmine rice and other refined grains, will be sold at market price before the end of December.

The remaining rice will be put up for another round of G2G discussions around mid-September, when Chinese representatives visit Thailand.
