BANGKOK, 27 February 2012  - Industry Minister M.R. Phongsawat Svastiwat has revealed that the government has allocated 415 million baht budget to the Board of Investment (BOI) to revive the image of the country in the eyes of the foreigners.

According to the Industry Minister, the BOI will use the budget to organize road shows in targeted countries and other activities to clarify the government’s water management and flood prevention plans. Many foreigners are hesitated to invest in Thailand after it was struck by the devastating flood last year; therefore, he said the activities are aimed at boosting investors’ confidence.

M.R. Phongsawat said the Budget Bureau is expected to transfer the fund to the BOI at the end of February. The road show will kick off in Japan, as the first country, during March 6-9.

In the meantime, the Minister has also assigned the Thailand Automotive Institute to discuss with automakers in promoting E85 gasohol-driven vehicles production. This is a follow-up to former industry minister Wannarat Channukul’s policy, which so far has not convinced automakers to produce E85-powered vehicles as much as the policy to promote the production of eco-cars.
