BANGKOK, 18 July 2013 The Board of Investment (BOI) plans to establish a mobile ASEAN investment promotion unit, giving investment advice on wheels.

BOI Deputy Secretary General Chokedee Sangkaew explained that the mobile unit would first focus on investment expansion in Myanmar, Vietnam, and Indonesia. He expressed his optimism that local investors would be able to enjoy the service by August.

He said that currently numerous Thai investors have expressed their interest in doing business in ASEAN member countries, especially in plastics pellets, auto parts, artificial leather, clothing, and processed food.

According to him, 86 companies have already shown interest in investing in Myanmar, Indonesia, Cambodia, and Vietnam. Of that number, 41 have started their businesses and the rest are going through formalities.
