BANGKOK, 13 March 2013 Belgium is set to send in a group of over 100 business leaders and investors to Thailand, following the Thai prime minister’s visit to the European kingdom last week.

The Belgian economic mission will be led by Crown Prince Phillippe, together with his wife Princess Mathilde. The group is expected to arrive next Monday, and will focus on the agro-product, alternative, and healthcare industries, as well as infrastructure and logistics.

The Thai government is also inviting investors from Belgium to invest in Thailand’s infrastructure mega-projects.

Belgian Ambassador to Thailand Marc Michielsen said that, as Thailand is entering into a free-trade agreement with the European Union, trade between Thailand and Belgium is expected to expand.

Trade between Belgium and Thailand currently totals about two billion euros, 80 billion baht, per year.
