Mr Surapong, accompanying Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra to the UN General Assembly, said the Belgium delegate, deputy prime minister and minister of foreign affairs, foreign trade and European affairs Didier Reynders, was also keen on investing in Myanmar.
The Dawei development project in Myanmar which connects Thailand is a central way with the neighbouring country’s development.
Ms Yingluck is also scheduled to discuss the Dawei project one-on-one with Myanmar President Thein Sein on the sidelines of the General Assembly, which began Sunday and continues through September 29.
Mr Surapong said Belgian Crown Prince Philippe will lead a Belgian trade mission to Thailand soon to explore investment possibilities in Thailand and possibly Myanmar. He said both sides also discussed the possibility of the Thai premier's official visit to Belgium next year.
In a separate meeting with his Panamanian counterpart Romulo Roux, the Thai foreign minister said both countries expressed delight on the 30th anniversary of Thai-Panama diplomatic relationship this year.
Thailand sees Panama as a transportation hub in the Latin American region and a strategic location towards America, Mr Surapong said, adding that Thailand has offered itself as a window to the Southeast Asian region for Panama.
