BANGKOK, 27 July 2012 - ASEAN Secretary-General Surin Pitsuwan has suggested Thailand to promote overseas investment and research to generate higher revenue and prepare itself for the ASEAN Economic Community (AEC).
The ASEAN Secretary-General delivered a special lecture for Ministry of Justice officials on Friday, saying that Thailand needed to change its economic model by encouraging Thai investors to invest abroad more instead of attracting foreign investors.
Mr.Surin therefore suggested Thailand to invest more in research and urgently create innovations. He said Thailand must protect its innovations with intellectual properties law while using research to develop industries.
