BANGKOK, 31 May 2012  – The ASEAN Secretary-General has suggested that Thailand should enhance its logistics system and infrastructure in preparation for future economic expansion.

ASEAN Secretary-General Surin Pitsuwan said that Thailand, as host to the World Economic Forum on East Asia 2012, has the opportunity to show the global community its potentials and readiness while drawing in more investment to the country.

At the same time, he suggested Thailand to improve its logistics system as well as basic infrastructure in order to accommodate the growing investment in the future.

Meanwhile, Dr. Surin viewed that investors should direct their interest to the service sector, which is gaining more popularity as the population of ASEAN has higher income and a better life quality. Additionally, the industrial and business sectors of the country should be elevated in order to facilitate the pace of economic advancement.

The ASEAN Secretary-General also expressed confidence that the ASEAN bloc will be capable of competing with any other region of the world.
