Incessant flooding of Pattaya Beach is taking its toll on its relatively new promenade where a large hole opened Aug. 7 when the earth below it washed away.
The hole measured about two meters long and more than a meter deep.
The sidewalk there had been supported by soil beneath, with no cement supports. When the sand washed away by flood after flood, the bricks fell through.
A sinkhole recently appeared along the Pattaya beach promenade.
