City hall still can’t buy a vowel for Pattaya sign

How many Pattaya City workers does it take to change a light bulb? When it comes to the Pattaya sign on Pratamnak Hill, the answer is “more than are employed”.

For the second time in six months, residents are complaining that parts of the landmark sign are dark because city hall is not maintaining it properly.

The “aya” in Pattaya can’t be read, either due to dead bulbs or faulty wiring.

City workers last did maintenance on the hillside sign Dec. 2 when they replaced wires torn out by vandals and nature. They also cleaned up the cabling to make the area look tidier.

But tourists are again needing to buy a vowel to figure out what the big illuminated sign is supposed to say.
