Western alternative rock bands Incubus, Owl City and Seether will join top Thai pop acts on two stages Jan. 28 for the first Silverlake Music Festival.

Organized by Silverlake Entertainment Co., the festival at the Silverlake Winery near Pattaya will also feature Thai bands Tattoo Colour, Slot Machine, Mild, Silly Fools, Brand New Sunset and DJ Spydamonkee.  Manoj Phuttan and Phathita “DJ Pupe” Kantaamra of Met 107 radio will emcee the event.

Silverlake Entertainment Vice President Jetsada Phatanathabut said at a Nov. 22 press conference the festival sprung from the positive response the winery got to its Kitaro new age music performance earlier this year.  With more than 25 years of experience promoting concerts, Jetsada said he and President Surachai Tangjaitrong wanted to do something bigger.

Backed by sponsors including Coca-Cola, True Visions, Yamaha Siam Music, Met 107, BK Magazine, the Dusit Thani Hotel, Siam Paragorn, and Tourism Authority of Thailand, the company trawled social media sites and pop media to recruit the hottest bands among Thailand’s younger set.

In addition to Owl City, an American electronica band, South African post-grunge rockers Seether and America’s Incubus, international artists Anti-Flag, Akira Jimbo, Gray Gregson, FranKo and Young Guns are scheduled to appear.

Other Thai bands tabbed for appearances include T-Bone, Moderndog, Scrubb, Stamp, 25 Hours, Singular, Silly Fools, Brand New Sunset, and Joey Boy.

“We all love music,” Jetsada said of the organizers.  “The feedback from our first project with Kitaro made us more confident and encouraged us to organize a festival for all music lovers.”

Tickets for the all-day event are 1,500 baht and the winery is also offering transport to and from Bangkok for an additional charge.  For more information visit SilverlakeMusicFestival.com or contact Thai Ticket Major at 02-262-3456 or ThaiTicketMajor.com.
