Navy recruits build dog
rehab centre for stray dogs
Patcharapol Panrak
The Royal Thai Navy is battling an invasion of its Sattahip
recruitment center from a new enemy: dogs.
Vice
Adm. Yuttana Fakpol-ngam, director of the Naval Education Department, and
other officers visit the construction site for the stray dog kennel at the
Naval Recruitment Training Center.
With hard economic times hitting the community, more and more dogs are being
abandoned. Many have found their way to the Naval Recruitment Training
Center where they scavenge for food around Navy buildings, residences,
senior hospices, clubs and at the training field. The result has been car
accidents, dog bites, rabies outbreaks and more.
In response, Naval Education Department officials are constructing a kennel
to house, feed and care for the stray canines.
Inspecting the progress of construction, training center commander Capt
Noppadol Supaporn said the facility will allow the dogs to live in a
semi-natural environment while providing them food and medical care.
Vice Adm. Yuttana Fakpol-ngam, director of the Naval Education Department,
said it was too dangerous to allow the stray dogs to continue to wander
around the camp. There has already been property damage and injuries from
dog bites, which then require rabies injections. They are simply too big a
threat to working personnel and VIPs who come to the center.
“A Night With The Diva - Amp Saowaluck Leelabutra” at the Hard Rock Hotel
Pattaya Charity Concert 2009
George Hazard, Hard Rock General Manager
Once again Hard Rock Hotel Pattaya announces its 8th consecutive Christmas
Charity Party on December 12 at 6 p.m. under the theme: “A Night with the Diva”.
After an immense success last year with Elvis Night, where THB 720,000 was
raised for the children of Baan Hinwong School in Sattahip, the ball is set this
year for another school project in the same district of Sattahip: Baan Amphur,
an 80-year-old dilapidated primary school in desperate need of a genuine lift.
The toilets, grounds, canteen and overall buildings are virtually falling apart
and Hard Rock Hotel Pattaya has made a vow to help restore as many facilities
for the children as money will allow!
In its worldwide motto: “Take Time to be kind” Hard Rock Hotel Pattaya not only
raises funds for charity but also manages the whole restoration project from
start to finish, saving hefty fees from costly contractors: painters,
carpenters, plumbers, landscapers are all Hotel Rockers!
This year’s party will include the infamous Hard Rock cocktails, the traditional
Christmas Tree Light up supported by impressive fireworks, the sumptuous buffet
dinner with individual carving stations and legendary wines, the incredible
prizes to be auctioned and raffled and the typical Hard Rock Entertainment with
the glorious Diva: Amp in an exclusive 90 minute performance!
This is it! The evening that all Pattaya has been waiting for! And all for the
children of Baan Amphur!
“The night with the Divas” is yours for THB 2,500 each and should you book a
table of 10 we would collect for 9 people only.
