TCEB offers free
e-survey facility
The Thailand Convention and Exhibition Bureau (TCEB) has launched a new
e-survey service that gives Thai meetings, incentives, conventions and
exhibitions (MICE) suppliers a free in-depth market research and analysis
product.
The e-survey, which has been on a trial run since November last year, allows
event organisers to make use of TCEB’s survey and analysis system in a
format than can be customised for each event. The system is expected to
lessen the use of paper surveys and save time with its automated analysis
report feature.
TCEB has so far provided e-survey and analysis reports to four MICE events
in Thailand, including the Bio Asia 2007 exhibition and conference held in
Bangkok from November 7 to 9, 2007 by SLM Management and Thailand’s National
Center for Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology.
SLM Management marketing director, Ms Nonglak Jitjeankhan, said TCEB’s
e-survey proved useful as it obtained delegates’ feedback on a macro basis
(regarding Thailand as a MICE destination) and hence allowed the company to
learn more of delegates’ travelling patterns and needs.
TCEB president, Mr. Natwut Amornvivat, said the e-survey would help enhance
the global competitiveness of the local MICE suppliers who could use the
survey results to effectively respond to event delegates’ needs and the
fast-changing global market. (TTG)
Raimon Land launches ferry
for its prestigious
Bangkok condo development
Luxury property developer Raimon Land has launched The
River Boat, an exclusive 45-berth vessel to ferry potential investors and
ultimately residents to their premier Bangkok condominium project, The River.
This
photo shows ‘The River Boat’, Raimon Land’s new luxury ferry for its River
condominium project.
The company commissioned Bangkok-based Siam Boatworks to construct a
contemporary craft that matches The River’s concept of luxury living on the Chao
Phraya River. The 18-metre modern launch cruiser, powered by two Volvo Penta
engines, is luxuriously decked out in Italian leather.
Raimon Land Chief Executive Officer, Nigel J Cornick, said the vessel currently
serves three purposes: sales, functions and branding. “The Bangkok skytrain is
one of the most convenient ways to get to this area of the city and The River
Boat will take people directly from the Saphan Taksin station to The River,” Mr.
Cornick said.
In the future, the role of the vessel will be to enable residents to quickly and
comfortably access riverside amenities and services such as transport, hotel
restaurants, shops and schools.
“The boat will eventually be controlled by the residents themselves, and they
will decide where and what it can be used for. For a residential building on a
waterway, a boat is essential to be able to experience ‘The River Lifestyle,’”
Mr. Cornick added.
State and private
sectors to jointly develop
shipbuilding industry
The state and private sectors have joined to coordinate
their efforts to upgrade Thailand’s shipbuilding industry with an aim to
make the country ASEAN’s shipbuilding and repair center.
Atchaka Sribunruang Brimble, director-general of the Industrial Economics
Office (IEO), said the agency had signed a cooperation agreement with a
private-sector alliance including Chulalongkorn University and the Thai
Shipbuilding and Repair Association to prepare a complete database on the
shipbuilding and repair industry in Thailand.
She said entrepreneurs could expect the government to support their
aspirations to see Thailand become ASEAN’s shipbuilding and repair hub in
the not too distant future.
Under the agreement, the state and private sectors will jointly update the
database on Thailand’s shipbuilding and repair activities.
In 2006, the shipbuilding and repair industry enjoyed satisfactory growth
with a total shipbuilding value of Bt3.81 billion and the repair value of
Bt2.01 billion.
This year, the value of shipbuilding is expected to reach some Bt10 billion
and the value of the country’s repair service business to rise to Bt5
billion.
Preparation of the database will help boost Thailand’s competitiveness in
this niche industry, Atchaka said. (TNA)
