A “dry” Songkran this year?

Be prepared, Songkran week is upon us

Due to a quirk in scheduling, the national Senate elections are being held on April 19, which just happens to be Songkran Day in Pattaya. According to the law, alcohol cannot be sold, served or given away during elections, which means no alcohol from 6 p.m. April 18 through midnight April 19. Despite no legal alcohol sales, we still predict it will still be very wet in the traditional sense. Be extra careful if you need to drive, expect long traffic delays, and please don’t wear your Sunday best out and about during this time.

Voters encouraged to turn out early for Senate election and avoid Songkran crush

Voters are being encouraged to turn out early for the Senate election on April 19, as the date coincides with the Wan Lai festivities and this will mean that there will be crowds of revelers on the streets in the afternoon.
Mayor Niran Watthanasartsathorn said that as Wan Lai takes place April 18-19, Pattaya City is announcing through all media outlets that voters should make their way to the polling stations early in the morning until noon. After this time, he said, the streets will become crowded.

Each year since the first in March, 1997, Rotarians from the Rotary Club of Bangkok South have taken disadvantaged children from their Pakkred foster home, some 15 kilometres outside Bangkok, and escorted the little ones to the Royal Varuna Yacht Club for a day of fun and feasting at the seaside.

A Muay Thai extravaganza at Thepprasit Stadium

March 26, Thepprasit Boxing Stadium was the venue for a festival of Muay Thai boxing titled “Wan Thamawit Buak Suk Blue Dog”. The program was organized by Mr Thamawit Sakamut (Duk) and Mr Thanudaech Sitsuchol (Puu Blue Dog).
