On display now at schools throughout Pattaya are works
produced by children based on the theme of children’s rights.
Supanimit Foundation in cooperation with the schools of
Pattaya began this large-scale activity in June and July of this year, as a
competition for students in painting walls and designing posters bearing
the motto “Children’s Rights”, the idea deriving from the
foundation’s project to help street kids.

The city of Pattaya along with five different schools,
namely Banglamung School and Pattaya School numbers 1, 5, 6 and 8 are
attempting to raise awareness amongst pupils and youngsters towards
children’s rights.
Thailand became a signatory to the United Nations
Convention on the Rights of the Child in 1992, and is thus obliged to
ensure the four basic rights of children, namely the rights to survival,
protection, development, and participation.
Supanimit Foundation arranged this extracurricular
activity to enable kids to participate in working towards children’s
rights together with their teachers. Walls were chosen to display the
paintings because they ensure high visibility and lasts longer than on any
other surface, allowing children to exhibit works of art that strongly
represent their primary goal of improving the quality of their lives.
After painting the walls or posters, one child from each
group has the opportunity to convey the meaning and idea of the picture to
their fellow students so that they may learn from each other.
Teachers and guardians watch over the children closely,
to teach and also to protect them from any harm that can be inflicted upon
them by those with ill intentions.
The paintings are open to the public for viewing at the participating
schools.
