World Environment Day was observed in Pattaya at the Public Health Centre on Soi Buakow, with Mayor Niran Wattanasartsathorn opening the day’s activities and the city’s deputy mayor, Wuttisak Rermkijakarn, councillors, local hotel owners, and students from 10 schools in Pattaya amongst those attending.

Sparkling visit for Austria’s “Father of Crystals”

Stopping over in Bangkok and Pattaya on his way to China was Gernot Langes-Swarovski, head of Austrian Tyrol-based crystals specialist Swarovski, and renowned as the “Father of Crystals”. Welcoming him to Thailand was Josef Aigner, head of ACD Thailand Co, a company that makes objets d’art set with Swarovski crystal components.

Louis Jadot wines introduced at Royal Cliff Wine Club Winemaker’s Dinner

The Royal Cliff Wine Club, under the leadership of renowned wine judge Ranjith Chandrasiri, held another Winemaker’s Dinner in the ballroom of the Royal Cliff Grand. The wines being experienced were from the Louis Jadot vineyards, through the courtesy of Thai agents Cannon Wines, with their affable representative Ekachai Mahaguna advising the diners on the subtle nuances.

Inaugural McAllister’s Ban Chang Open a resounding success

On a beautiful day with a slight breeze and a course in tip-top shape, twenty-one groups of golfers teed off for the inaugural McAllister’s Ban Chang Open at Century Ban Chang last Saturday. The format was a four person Texas Scramble with a modified handicap system in place designed to give the higher handicappers a better chance than the traditional 10 percent of combined handicaps.
