YWCA host lunch for children at the Ban Nok School

The YWCA Bangkok Pattaya branch, in association with the Pattaya Sports Club charity section, donated their time and resources for the YWCA’s school lunch project. The children at the Ban Nok School were the latest recipients, as members from both organizations served up a nutritious meal for the kids.

Nittaya Patimasongkroh, Premrudee Jittiwuttikarn and 20 members served up the food, complete with sweets and ice cream for 126 students at the school.

Other necessary items were donated by the group, including rice and dried food, plates and utensils as well as a computer for the school.

The Ban Nok School, located in Huay Yai, has 126 primary school children and has 6 teachers to care for and educate them from year’s one to 6.

Technical Day 2005 for students

On February 10 at Larn Pho Park in Naklua, Mayor Niran Wattanasartsathorn presided over the opening of Technical Day 2005.

President Judy Hoppe (2nd right) and the Rotary Club of Jomtien Pattaya were on hand to join the fun.

Pattaya City organizes this educational day annually and it is still going strong after 17 years. The purpose of this day is to evaluate schools in Pattaya City’s educational system for performance quantity and quality.

After the official opening, Mayor Niran visited the student exhibitions.

This year they held first class exhibits using the title, “One School and Products”. They showed the students’ abilities in thinking, analyzing, synthesizing their knowledge, and the resources for student products.

Who said learning technical subjects can’t be fun? Surely not these students’ teacher.

The majority of the exhibition pertained to each student’s progression in their studies, production, and showing of status by 10 Pattaya schools. There were also other educational departments and a past good deeds organization in attendance.

The event was also attended by the deputy mayor of Pattaya City, city council members, Rotary, teachers, and students in Pattaya’s educational system. After the official opening, Mayor Niran visited the student exhibitions and played games, which were presented by the students.


Teaching licenses for educators announced in city seminar

Following Ministry of Education guidelines and 2004 legislation, educators will be required to be authorized to work in their chosen profession. Authorization will be required for both government and private education sectors.

Dr. Somsak Kolprasit, Duru Council deputy secretary lectured on the requirement for educators to receive authorization.

In a recent seminar at city hall, Mayor Niran Wattanasartsathorn and his administration was joined by over 300 people, including education department officers. Niran said that according to the law it is important for teachers to be approved. The standards set have been aimed at improving the country’s education system and that those who attended special training sessions would be approved.

The seminar focused on providing relevant information for teachers to develop themselves and raise standards in the region.
