Pattaya Vegetarian Festival scheduled for October 13-23

Ancient ceremony sees revival

A deeply spiritual experience for devotees, the Vegetarian Festival is also one of the region’s most exotic and vibrant festivals and is a favorite among local and international tourists. Chinese in its origins, devotees cleanse their bodies and souls by fasting in preparation for ceremonial activities that honor ancient deities. This year Pattaya will go all out to make this fete the best one ever.

Pattaya City in cooperation with TAT Central Region 3, Sawang Boriboon Foundation, Chonburi Province and private organizations will be holding the annual Pattaya City Vegetarian Festival 2004 from October 13-23 at the Sawang Boriboon Foundation premises in Naklua. The purpose of this festival is to promote Pattaya’s image and to revive the ancient traditional vegetarian ceremony.

John Khan, (right) Chairman of the UK Club of Pattaya together with Yuwadee Hall, (centre) the Club Thai Advisor, presented a cheque for 41,000 Baht to Father Giovanni (left) at Camillian Centre in Rayong. The money was raised by the Club during recent meetings and will be used to assist the centre with their plans to improve the facilities, which provides shelter and care to homeless, indigent and rejected people living with HIV/AIDS.

End of the league is near and seven teams are fighting for the trophies

Pattaya Sports Club Friday Bowling League

Two weeks are left in the league and 8 points are still up for grab. Only four teams can grab the gold but three of them must catch Three Sisters in the final two weeks. Trophies will be awarded to all of the bowlers on the top four teams.

This week Three Sisters sent VFW Post 9876 down to seventh place after taking three points with no less than five two hundred games bowled in the match.
