The Foodmart supermarket, which has been operating for over two years, recently opened a new section offering fresh food and meat to customers. The 24/7 supermarket held a special opening party for customers, guests and associates at its Thappraya Road location with special guest of honor Santsak Ngamphiches performing the customary formalities.

To coincide with the opening of the new section, Stephen Buckingham, Foodmart managing director, held a festive season party for his guests and customers in appreciation for their continued support.

Party helps raise funds for FORDEC Foundation

It’s the festive season and there are plenty of parties going on around town, and what better place to do so that at the Hard Rock Hotel.

Honored guests took time out of the fun for a photo.

The hotel recently held a thank you party for guests, travel agents and members of the media in the Sky Bar of the Hard Rock Cafe. The fun and games lasted through the evening with an underlying cause; raising money for the FORDEC Foundation.

Andrew Khoo, Hard Rock’s GM, opened the night’s proceedings by saying the theme of the night was in keeping with the Hard Rockers around the world.

A special performance by the in-house band, ‘What’s New’ and comedian ‘John’ entertained the visitors and guests while snowmen were on sale to raise funds for the foundation.

The hotel aims to raise a further 200,000 baht for the FORDEC foundation which provides scholarships and opportunities for underprivileged families throughout the nation.

Twenty-one budding young stars participated in the Santa Christmas Kids pageant at the Central Festival Center on December 25th. Each of the girls, aged between 3-10, performed in front of a large audience at the center court singing and dancing their way into the hearts of the judges.

Dressed in angel outfits and performing lively acts, the aim was to encourage the children to perform and exhibit their talents, and since it was Christmas day, the pageant presented the very best of what these kids could do on stage.

A panel of judges tallied points up to 100, with the winners going home with scholarship funding from 500 to 3000 baht.

Natta Palangariy, 8, captured the judges’ hearts to take home first prize, a 3,000 baht scholarship, while 7-year-old runner up Narinjutha Jantsongsaeng received 2,000 for her efforts and 5-year-old Pacharawalia Busayawit drew third in the pageant.


World of Language & Computer holds an educational Christmas party for students

With all the parties happening around town during the Christmas and New Year period the World of Language & Computer School held an educational party for the students at the sala in Potisampan School on Christmas day.

Arusa Nettjamnong, World of Language & Computer School director encourages the students to speak English.

The morning kicked off with school director, Arusa Nettjamnong hold an English lesson using day to day words and phrases drawing a great deal of interest from students of all ages.

The morning’s lesson focused on correct use and intonation of the English language as the competed for prizes as to who was the best in their class before moving on to more word games.

The day wound up with more fun activities featuring plays and skits as well as Christmas tales and a break for lunch and back to regular classes.


Road safety featured at weekly Expat Club meeting

The Pattaya City Expat Club which meets at Henry J Beans each Sunday recently featured special guest speaker and committee advisor, Pol. Maj. Somchai Pongsai, Pattaya Traffic Superintendent.

Drew Noyes, Expat Club chairman introduces Pol. Maj. Somchai Pongsai, Pattaya Traffic Superintendent to talk about road rules.

Pol. Maj. Somchai spoke on issues concerning road rules and traffic regulations in Thailand, which quite often elude many foreigners living in the country. Subjects included licenses, road regulations for motor vehicles and motorcycles, as well as the penalties involved for lawbreakers.

The traffic superintendent emphasized that all drivers must have a license and know the rules. He also explained what to do in case of an accident, a subject that was met with many questions from attentive audience.

Following the talk, a certificate of appreciation and an award for outstanding service was presented to Pol. Maj. Somchai Pongsai before everyone joined in a Christmas party and brunch.
