St Andrews students raise 80,000 baht in ‘Turtletastic’ Fashion

Anyone for tea?

One of the topics which Year 5 students at The Regent’s School have been focusing on recently is “Ancient China”. A highlight has been a project about “tea” which revealed many interesting facts, particularly about the healing qualities of this beverage. The most enjoyable activity was the special “tea tasting ceremony”, where everyone had the chance to sample different flavours.

St Andrews students raise 80,000 baht in ‘Turtletastic’ Fashion

First it was a Walk for Wildlife to save the pandas, then children at St Andrews International School decided to don their bathing suits to take part in The Big Swim to save the turtles!

Which way are we going?

And they’re off...

Wet n’ Wild.

Teachers and children have been working closely with the World Wildlife Fund for Nature to preserve the existence of these most precious marine animals. Children learned about the threats to turtles through different activities producing wonderful artwork, poems and writing. Some children were even lucky enough to visit the Sattahip Turtle Rehabilitation Centre to see at first hand what is being done to help increase the turtle populations here in Thailand.

As a finale to the turtle activities, children took part in a sponsored swim. A great deal of splashing, paddling and sheer determination was evident as children swam their way to a staggering 83,380 baht in raised sponsorship money! This total means that through their efforts St Andrews children, staff and parents have raised over 150,000 baht in little over 12 months for the WWF.

Well done to everyone who took part in The Big Swim and for those who made donations for this worthy cause!
