St. Andrews holds Science Day

The Key Stage 3 departments at St. Andrews International School had a recent visit from Paul Schofield, former Head of Secondary at Bangkok Patana School, and now Head of Key Stage 3 in St. Andrews Soi 71, Bangkok.

Just what does affect the frequency of a pendulum swing? These KS3 students from St Andrews found out.

The students were treated to a day of research, investigation and problem solving, all in the name of science! Everyone took part in a series of experiments to determine what affects the frequency of a pendulum swing.

After conducting the experiments students were asked to draw conclusions from their findings and evaluate the success of their experiments. We hope that there will be many more joint events between the two St. Andrews Schools.

St. Andrews KS3 students enjoy a night of bowling and pizza!

by Marisa Malhotra, Year 9

KS3 students and teachers had an enjoyable night out at Tops Bowling Alley and the Pizza Company in Royal Garden Plaza. At first we had a very enjoyable game of bowling between the ‘girls’ team and the ‘boys’ team. Everyone was surprised with each other’s style of shooting because there was the baby-shot style to the professional style.

KS3 students and teachers had an enjoyable night out at Tops Bowling Alley and the Pizza Company in Royal Garden Plaza.

The score came out that the winner from the boy’s team was Jesse and that the winner from the girl’s team was Sinead. However, even though some people came last or second last, everyone still agreed that they enjoyed the game thoroughly.

Then it was time to leave Tops Bowling Alley, and the plan now was to walk to Royal Garden Plaza, but we decided to take a baht bus instead. We then got to the Pizza Company and ordered several types of pizza, and waited until the pizza came. We then ate our pizza, and had fun.

After everyone had finished their pizza we decided to have a game of bumper cars on the 3rd floor. The bumper cars were very enjoyable but also quite painful, because the students were bouncing from side to side as they got hit.

We had time left so we went to visit the scorpion lady which was quite a surprise to see a lady ‘living’ with so many scorpions. Everyone enjoyed this trip and we’re all looking forward to our next trip to paintballs. Very special thanks to Ms. Cawley and Mr. Nightingale for organizing such a great evening for the KS3 students.
