Amazing Thai Concert is a go
Promises to be both amazing and spectacular

An Artist’s conception of the gigantic “Amazing Thailand Concert” stage.

Organizers of the Amazing Thai Concert announced that all systems are go for the entertainment extravaganza. The concerts will be held at the U-tapao Air Base on four Saturdays in December: the 4th, 11th, 18th and 25th.

Spokespersons for the TAT, the Millennium Entertainment Co. Ltd., K & B International Ltd., the Royal Thai Navy and the Chonburi and Rayong Provincial Administrations held a press conference at the Bangkok Hilton Hotel on 16 September announcing the dates.

The joint announcement was the first official statement since the group met at Pattaya City Hall planning the concert, and a later visit to U-tapao inspecting the construction progress of the gigantic concert stage. The stage itself will be worth seeing, 120 meters long and 30 meters high.

The concerts will be held on 625 rai of land at the U-Tapao Air Base in the beach area of Ban Phla. Tickets will be selling for 800, 3,000 and 20,000 baht for the Saturday performances. On weekdays, other entertainment will be offered with tickets selling for 20, 100, and 300 baht. Ticket purchasing locations will be announced later.

Thai cultural entertainment, merchandise and food from all four regions of Thailand will be in abundance at the concert location.

More than 700,000 visitors are expected to attend the concerts, bringing with them 50,000 million baht. Thai Embassies and the Tourism Authority of Thailand in 77 countries are actively involved in a public relations campaign announcing the concert. Organizers plan to televise the concerts to 25 countries.

The Chairman of the Standing Committee on Tourism of the House of Representatives Santsak Ngamphiches, the Tourism of Thailand Director Seri Wangpaijit, the General Manager of the Millennium Entertainment Company Ltd. Professor Lakkana Tawethikul, and the Managing Director of K & B Events International Ltd. Arno Geul joined many other dignitaries from the private sector and Royal Thai Navy in the announcement ceremony.

The “Amazing Thailand Concert” will be a national level entertainment event presented in honor of His Majesty the King’s 72nd birthday and completion of six cycles in December. The event will also close the 1999 year in tourism.
