Major General Sanan Khachornprasad, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of the Interior, chaired the opening ceremony of the annual "Good Things in Rayong Fruit Festival". The festival ran from 8-16 May, and was held at the Agricultural Central Market.

Rayong Province is an important agricultural city on the Eastern Seaboard. Rayong also has many industries located in the area, and is a popular tourist attraction with a rich historical past. In addition, there are various products and merchandise providing much income to the area, such as seafood, rubber, and many varieties of fruit. This is the fruit harvest time in Rayong Province with Durians, Rambutans, Mangosteens, and Pineapple in season.

This festival was held to celebrate this fruit being in season. The festival was bristling with tourists who came to see the event and sample the many varieties of fruit. During this festival there was a contest for the best decorated float, as they paraded through the streets decorated in the various fruits from the area. There was also a beauty contest, a fruit eating contest and merchandise was on display with plenty of fruit for sale in the area.
