continued: The Fountain Overflows!

It was not a case of "who was there" - it was rather the case of "who wasn’t there". Delaney’s was simply packed. Tables were erected in the forecourt and parking area outside and the revelers filled every one of them.

In the bar area, the Guinness drinkers were elbow to elbow, the lovers cheek to cheek and the Jesters were everywhere, armed with fistfuls of raffle tickets.

At the microphone was Bangkok DJ Andy Francis and behind the musical instruments were "The Bastads" followed later in the evening by "Tony and Friends".

The sales booth at the door did a roaring trade on the "Care 4 Kids" T Shirts, with more and more people appearing in them as the night raged on, sometimes to the heavy beat of some of the old "Sex Pistols" numbers. Johnny Rotten and Sid Vicious would have been proud to be in such company! Later still, the Jesters bandanas became the hot item, with many of Pattaya’s more "senior" brigade appearing in the pirate headgear.

But everyone knew what they were there for - to help the Jesters raise money for the needy kids. And that they did! Over 1 million Baht was collected by the Jesters for the Fountain of Life. Much of that came from the fantastic efforts of Kim Fletcher and the Delaney’s crew who donated 60% of the food takings and 15% of the liquor sales to the fund. The donated items from so many business people in Pattaya were raffled or auctioned and also contributed greatly to the swelling financial fund. Biggest ticket item in the auction was the large (dare I say) "mounted" photograph of five of the Jesters doing the Full Monty! This fetched B20,000 but the husband of the lady who bought it was heard to say, "You’re not hanging that thing in the bedroom!" I am led to believe it has been donated to Delaney’s as a memento of a fantastic evening.

The Pattaya Mail has been pleased to be one of the sponsors of the event, and thanks all those who were involved, in one way or another, with a most successful outcome on behalf of some very special people - Kids!
