Londoner remains undefeated

After week 4 of the Friday Premier Darts League, the Londoner remains in first place and is still unbeaten. Their fourth win was secured by Jack checking out the beer leg on 81, including a bulls eye finish. Unfortunately, that still leaves the Thistle to win anything.

Tippy’s beat the Last Resort quite convincingly, but the Last Resort fought back to take the beer leg.

In the league’s other two matches in week four, Texxan Inn beat Sports Corner while Billy & Da defeated Mick’s Place to retain a share of second place with Tippy’s.

Parity prevails on the links

PCS Golf from Café Kronborg

If the aim of a handicap system is to ensure that golfers of differing levels of skill can compete on level terms, than the Pattaya Sports Club Golf handicap system is surely working, as many a PSC golfer turned in equal scores this week in somewhat less than ideal conditions.

Monday, 6 July - Bangpra Golf Course (Stableford)

A Flight
1st: Tony Kelly, 37 points
2nd: Mark Adair, 36 points (won on count back)
3rd: Sven Vistung, 36 points

B Flight
1st: Alec Chilcott, 33 points
2nd: Doug Powell, 31 points
3rd: Pete Galle, 29 points

Some 26 ardent golfers departed the Café Kronborg to the ever popular, old established Bangpra Golf Course. Heavy overnight rain prevented buggy use and winter rules prevailed in a Stableford competition.

In the absence of the Golf Chairman to the UK, the old regime of Alec Chilcott and Dave Richardson organized the day, which, with increased numbers, allowed for 3 prizes in both A & B flights.

Scoring in B flight was on the low side with 3rd place going to Pete Galle’s utter surprise with 29 points. Second was Doug Powell on 31 points and first, to everyone’s surprise, went to Alec with 33 points.

A flight scores showed greater prowess, with Sven Vistung third on 36 points losing second place to Mark Adair on count back, also with 36 points. The only one to play better than his handicap was Tony Kelly, who won with 37 points.

Alec welcomed new member Kai Mustoner from Finland and thanked Norrie Whiter for continuing to supplement his pension.

Roland Pechoki and Dave Richardson won near pin prizes on holes #2 and #12.

Thursday, 9 July - Pattaya Country Club (Stableford)

A Flight
1st: Bill Collis, 39 points, won on count back
2nd: Gez Tracy, 39 points, lost on count back
3rd: Joe Smiley, 39 points, lost on count back

B Flight
1st: Roland Piechoky, 34 points, won on count back
2nd: Ebrahim, 34 points, lost on count back
3rd: Paul Kinner, 34 points, lost on count back

Once again Kronborg numbers increased to 37 entries visiting the increasingly popular Pattaya Country Club. PSC golfers had to put up with a slower round due to a public holiday.

Scores were better than Monday at Bangpra and strangely resulted in ties and count backs for the first three in both flights.

Paul Kinner took B flight 3rd place with 34 points and only 14 points on the back nine. Steady Ebrahim came 2nd on 34 points with 17 on the back nine, and Roland Piechoky took 1st on 34 points with 18 on the back nine.

Joe Smiley scored only 15 points on his back nine out of a total of 39 points to finish third in A flight. Gez Tracy with 17 points on the back nine out of a total of 39 took second, while first on same gross score but a back half of 19 points was Bill Collis.

Pocket Hercules Steve Mascari won the long drive. Nearest the pin prizes went to John Moore, Gez Tracy, Steve Mascari and Sven Vistung.

Red cards for failing to turn up went to Dave Holland, who said he was "too sober to play", George Davies, Noddy Moyle (misuse of Viagara pill), and Mark Adair, reason unknown.

Alec welcomed the return of Ernst (Senior Partner in Café Kronborg), Dave Cave from Texas via Saudi Arabia, and Greg Kinner.

Papa Ray Rogers graced the scene with his company on the course and at prize giving. He told Alec he tripped over a lost ball whilst watching John Moore playing and immediately gave it to him where on he gets it nearest to the pin on no. 5.

A great day had by all with farewells to Tony Kelly returning to Aussie and Leslie Phillips to Devon England.
